First Working Groups Meeting within the framework of the XVII IACML

In compliance with the Inter-American Conference of Ministers of Labor (IACML) Calendar of Activities for 2012-2013, the following events took place consecutively at OAS Headquarters in Washington D.C.:

• First Working Groups Meeting of the XVII IACML: October 9 to 10
• RIAL Seminar on Freedom of Association: October 11

Objectives:

1) Continue the discussion on the topics and tasks assigned by the 1) Continue the discussion on the topics and tasks assigned by the Declaration and Plan of Action of El Salvador 2011 to the Working Groups of the IACML:

• Working Group 1: “Sustainable Development with Decent Work for a new era of Social Justice”, and

• Working Group 2: “Strengthen Ministries of Labor to Promote Decent Work and Social Inclusion”.

2) Deepen the discussion and exchange experiences on promoting respect for freedom of association and collective bargaining within the hemisphere.

Participants:

• Representatives from the Ministries of Labor of the OAS Member States
• Representatives from the Permanent Missions to the OAS of Member States
• Workers’ and employers’ representatives grouped in COSATE and CEATAL
• Representatives from international organizations relevant to the IACML process and other special guests
