XLIII General Assembly of the OAS

Dialogue of the Heads of Delegation and Secretary General with the Representatives of the workers, private sector and civil society in the framework of the XLIII General Assembly of the OAS

During this dialogue, private sector representatives shared their visions on the theme of the General Assembly " For a Comprehensive Policy against the World Drug Problem in the Americas" as well as the conclusions reached at the IX OAS Private Sector Forum held on May 31st in Guatemala City.

At the dialogue with the Secretary General and the Heads of State, CEATAL representative, John Craig, pointed out the rol of the employers and employment in addressing the adverse impacts of the drug problem in our societies and work places. He also underlined the impact of the drug problem on young people keeping in mind that such problem is a broad concept that covers drug producers, drug sellers, runners, users and family members and communities affected by drugs.

The private sector was represented as well by José Santiago Molina, President of the Coordinating Committee of Agricultural, Commercial, Industrial, and Financial Associations (CACIF), Hernán Pitto, Vice President of the Latin American Industrialists Association (AILA), and César Zamora, Treasurer of the Association of American Chambers of Commerce in Latin America (AACCLA).
