"Public Policies to Promote the Internationalization of MSMEs"

The Executive Secretariat for Integral Development of the Organization of American States (OAS), through its Department of Economic and Social Development, and the Secretariat of Micro and Small Businesses of the Presidency of the Republic of Brazil, with the support of the government of Canada and the Brazilian Micro and Small Business Support Service (SEBRAE), organize the III Inter-American Dialogue of High-Level MSME Authorities on "Public Policies to Promote the Internationalization of Micro, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs)”.
The objective of this meeting is to promote a regional dialogue of high-level MSME authorities on policies and programs to enhance the competitiveness, innovation and internationalization of MSMES, and to foster the exchange of best practices for strengthening the contribution of this sector to the sustainable development of OAS Member States.
Objetive
The objective of this meeting is to promote a regional dialogue of high-level
MSME authorities on policies and programs to enhance the competitiveness,
innovation and internationalization of MSMES, and to foster the exchange of best
practices for strengthening the contribution of this sector to the sustainable
development of OAS Member States. It is expected that the meeting concludes with
the identification of the key elements of a plan of action, including specific
commitments on horizontal cooperation between countries that have successful
experiences to share supporting MSMEs and other countries interested in
receiving assistance based on these experiences.
Convoning Entities

Issues
The III Dialogue will address the key issues at the center of OAS member states’
efforts to promote the internationalization of their MSME sector. The issues to
be covered are: importance of MSMEs in international trade; the competitiveness
challenges of small businesses; regulatory framework and tools for the
internationalization of MSMEs. Furthermore, it is expected that the meeting
concludes with the identification of the key elements of a plan of action that
includes specific commitments on horizontal cooperation between countries that
have successful experiences to share supporting MSMEs and other countries
interested in receiving assistance based on these experiences.
