Competitiveness, Innovation and Technology

The Section of Competitiveness, Innovation and Technology supports OAS Member States in their efforts to advance the economic growth of the region by promoting public policy dialogue, capacity building, the exchange of successful experiences and the development of cooperation initiatives and technical documents on key issues of competitiveness and innovation. The Section facilitates active and results-based political dialogue among Ministers, High-Level Authorities, partners and other stakeholders and organizes several conferences, forums, workshops and working groups’ sessions.

Key areas of action

SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY

Support the Meetings of Ministers and High Authorities in Science and Technology (REMCYT), the Inter-American Committee on Science and Technology (COMCYT) and four working groups Innovation, Human Resources Training and Education, National Quality Infrastructure, and Technological Development.


COMPETITIVENESS

Technical Secretariat of the
Inter-American Competitiveness Network (RIAC) which convenes Ministers, High-Level Authorities, Competitiveness Councils, multilateral organizations, leaders of private sector, academia and NGOS with programs on competitiveness. Supports the Americas Competitiveness Forum (ACF), the preeminent hemispheric policy space for government and business leaders to discuss economic competitiveness and promote innovation in the Americas .

RESEARCH & TECHNOLOGY
Prospecta Americas is a regional program and network that aims to identify, map, study and share future trends and technological developments in sectors of critical importance to the Americas, and provide useful insights as an input for decision making and the formulation of public policies. The initiative is led by the National Council of Science, Technology and Technological Innovation of Peru (CONCYTEC) in collaboration with the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation of Colombia (MINCIENCIAS), and counts on the support of all members and strategic partners of the Inter-American Committee on Science and Technology (COMCYT) of the OAS.

INNOVATION
The HUB on Technology Transfer and Commercialization for the Americas® is a high-level training and networking program, aimed at entrepreneurs, leaders and technology transfer professionals from the Americas, interested in developing and bringing their technologies, products and services from "idea to market".
