The Eighth Meeting of the CEDDIS will be celebrated on April 24-28, 2017 in Cali, Colombia, to consider the second group of national reports on the implementation of the Inter-American Convention for the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Persons with Disabilities, CIADDIS, and the Program of Action for the Decade of the Americas for the Rights and Dignity of Persons with Disabilities, PAD (Reports of Brazil, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Haiti, Honduras, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Uruguay, and Venezuela).  The Meeting will include detailed evaluation by country and the adoption of general recommendations for presentation to the OAS General Assembly on the situation of persons with disabilities in the region.  Time will also be allowed for review of the progress of the working group for the development of an instructions manual on supports and safeguards; for review of the PAD with a view to its extension through 2026, and for dialogue with representatives of civil society organizations, among other matters.

The Chair wishes to underscore the importance of attendance at this meeting by as many experts as possible in order to ensure that the evaluation groups are duly formed.
