Special Meeting of the CEDDIS (May 2014)
The Fourth Special Meeting of the CEDDIS was convened in order
to, among other things: select the Committee's officers; review the indicators
contained in the simplified form for submission of the second compliance report
on the CIADDIS and the Program of Action for the Decade of the Americas for the
Rights and Dignity of Persons with Disabilities (PAD); adopt the work plan of
the group assigned to develop an instruction manual on supports and safeguards
in light of the provisions of Article 12 of the United Nations Convention on the
Rights of Persons with Disabilities; and share inclusive national experiences.
In addition, as noted in operative paragraph 4 of resolution AG/RES. 2596
(XL-O/10), a period of time was set aside for civil society participation to
enable it to provide the Committee with the information it deemed relevant on
the measures taken by the states parties to the CIADDIS to comply therewith.
This meeting was attended by the representatives from the following countries:
Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El
Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay and Peru.
