Second Meeting of Head of Institutions and Policy-Makers for Persons with Disabilities

In October 2009, it was requested via the Permanent Missions of the OAS, that the Member States prepare a first report on the progress made in the implementation of the Program of Action for the Decade for the Rights and Dignity of Persons with disabilities (2006-2016), also known as PAD.

Months later, in coordination with CONADIS Argentina, it was convened the Second Meeting of Heads of Institutions and Policy-Makers for Persons with Disabilities with the main purpose of examine, in light of the reports submitted by the Member States, the progress made by the countries, and the continent as a whole, in the implementation of the actions of the PAD. Moreover, the participants discussed the possibility of designing a monitoring tool to measure progress in the implementation of this instrument, identified priority actions, and shared experiences and best practices.

This meeting of regional authorities was held in Buenos Aires, Argentina, from August 4^th to 6^th, 2010. The meeting was attended by the representatives of the following OAS Member States: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Ecuador, United States, Haiti, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, Dominican Republic and Uruguay.
