INSULZA SENDS CONDOLENCES TO THE PRESIDENTS OF BRAZIL, COLOMBIA AND PANAMA FOR THE TRAGIC BALANCE OF VICTIMS OF THE FLOODS

The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS) José Miguel Insulza expressed his concern for the high number of victims left by the storms that hit Brazil, Colombia, and Panama, and for the severe structural damages in those countries.

Insulza sent his condolences to Presidents Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, Álvaro Uribe and Martín Torrijos, and called OAS Member States and Permanent Observers to demonstrate their active solidarity by supporting the affected countries within their possible means.

During the next session of the OAS Permanent Council to be held on December 3rd; the General Secretariat will request an analysis of the impact of the recent storms to determine the best way to assist the nations that were affected by these natural disasters.
