Honduras: OAS Technical Team to Socialize MACCIH Proposal
November 9, 2015
A technical delegation of the Organization of American States (OAS) will present the proposal of the Mission to Support the Fight Against Corruption and Impunity in Honduras (MACCIH/OAS) this week with various political, economic and social actors in Honduran society.
The technical delegation will be headed by Christopher Hernández-Roy, Director of the Department of Sustainable Democracy and Special Missions of the OAS, and will include the participation of Katalina Montaña, Coordinator of the Dialogue and Mediation Unit of the Department.
The technical mission will include international experts Jan-Michael Simon, German specialist in criminal law, criminal policy and international public law; and Jacobo Domínguez, a Mexican lawyer and expert in political party financing as well as monitoring of electoral campaigns, and issues of transparency and access to information.
During their stay in Honduras, the delegation will present the objectives and scope of the MACCIH – made public by the Secretary General of the OAS, Luis Almagro weeks ago –to a variety of actors, and will listen to their positions regarding the initiative.
It is hoped that following this visit, the technical team of the OAS will finalize the proposal to then define the roadmap leading to the installation of the MACCIH in Honduras.
