OAS Assistant Secretary General Meets with Private Sector Representatives in Panama

The Assistant Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), Albert Ramdin, discussed with private sector representatives in Panama the economic outlook in the region and the preparations for the business meeting in the context of the Summit of the Americas to be held in the country in 2015.
The Assistant Secretary General met with Panamanian entrepreneurs during his visit to the country, where he took part in the inauguration of President Juan Carlos Varela.
The business representatives highlighted the need to promote public-private alliances to address the challenges of the changing global economic scenario.
“More than ever, the public-private dialogue should be strengthened to face the weak growth of the global economy, to make the benefits of democracy tangible and to create jobs in our Hemisphere,” said Assistant Secretary General Ramdin.
During his visit, the Assistant Secretary General delivered an award to businessman Stanley Motta, President of Copa Holdings, for his constant support to the OAS and to promote the constructive participation of youth in the societies of the Americas.
The Assistant Secretary General also met with the President of the Business Council of Latin America (CEAL), Samuel Urrutia, with whom he discussed the importance of strengthening public-private dialogue ahead of the next Summit of the Americas.
The senior OAS authority extended to the Panamanian private sector an invitation to the VIII Americas Competitiveness Forum, which will take place in Trinidad and Tobago from October 8 to 10, and for which the OAS serves as technical secretariat.
