The General Secretariat of the Organization of American States (OAS) is following with concern the violent acts that have taken place in Nicaragua in recent hours.
The General Secretariat condemns all violence and the killings of civilians Richard Edmundo Pavón Bermúdez and Darwin Manuel Urbina Urbina, and the Sub-Inspector of Police Hilton Rafael Manzanares Alvarado.
At the same time, the Secretariat calls for peace, respect for institutions, and clarification of the crimes committed.
The General Secretariat recognizes the legitimate right to peaceful protest, as well as the freedom of expression in the framework of the rule of law.
