The General Secretariat of the Organization of American States (OAS) affirms that building democratic and inclusive societies with development requires the coexistence of institutions, political parties, social sectors and the citizenry.
The General Secretariat of the OAS maintains at the same time that the appropriate framework to promote the environment that addresses these issues is the norms of the Inter-American system and especially the Inter-American Democratic Charter. In this regard, it expresses its firm intention to work in the future with the elected authorities of Honduras, at their three levels, executive, legislative and municipal, within the framework of existing cooperation agreements, institutional strengthening and electoral reform that will allow for democratic, just and supportive coexistence.
