  November 29, 2010

The Organization of American States (OAS), through its Department of International Law, will hold two workshops, titled, “Logical Framework for Project Design,” and “Political Participation for Indigenous Women,” between December 1st and 8th, 2010, in Hotel Colón in Quito.

The first workshop will be held between December 1st and 4th at 8:30 (Quito time) (13:30 GMT) and seeks to collaborate on the efforts of indigenous peoples in the search for funds to implement development projects that address their particular needs.

The second will be held between December 5th and 8th at 14:00 (Quito time) (19:00 GMT) and has as its objective to strengthen leadership by promoting greater participation of indigenous women in civic building. The classes are offered by experts from different countries and officials from the OAS Department of Planning and Evaluation and the OAS Department for Effective Public Management.

Scholars are expected from Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador, Peru, Paraguay, Uruguay and Venezuela. They will receive the tools to collaborate on efforts to achieve political impact in their respective communities. The meetings are part of the “Program of Action of the Department of International Law on Indigenous Peoples in the Americas,” through which scholarships are granted to its participants, most of them indigenous representatives designated by their communities, as well as members of NGOs and government officials that work on indigenous issues.
