The Organization of American States (OAS) will co-organize, together with the Antigua & Barbuda Electoral Commission (ABEC), on Tuesday, December 3, a “National Colloquium on Electoral Campaign Financing,” in Saint John’s.

The one-day event will bring together representatives from public institutions, political parties and civil society from Antigua and Barbuda to promote debate on future legislative reforms of the political-electoral financing system in the country among key national stakeholders.

During the seminar, the electoral management body, political parties and civil society representatives will present their views on the subject focusing on the minimum legislation needed to promote more equitable and transparent financing systems in Antigua and Barbuda. Discussion will focus on the challenges, strategies, local actions and next steps towards legislation reform.

The National Colloquium builds upon the Regional Forum to Strengthen the Regulation of Political Parties and Political Financing in the Caribbean organized by the OAS Department for Electoral Cooperation and Observation (OAS/DECO) in Bridgetown, Barbados in May 2013.
