OAS and Panama to Organize the XI Meeting of the Latin American and Caribbean Council of Civil Registration, Identity and Vital Statistics (CLARCIEV)

The Organization of American States, through the Universal Civil Identity Program in the Americas (PUICA) of the Department for Effective Public Management and the Government of Panama, through the Electoral Tribunal of Panama, will organize from November 18 to 21 in Panama City, the XI Meeting of the Latin American and Caribbean Council of Civil Registration, Identity and Vital Statistics (CLARCIEV).

The XI Meeting of CLARCIEV has as its central theme “Identification in Regional Migration: A Latin American Challenge” and seeks to be a space for the presentation of strategies and plans for the modernization of the Civil Registry and Identity Institutions to be carried out, as well as to seek common ground to address the issue of migration in the region, and in turn to also strengthen the links between the distinct registry institutions in order to ensure progress in the right to the identity of individuals.

The Civil Registry Directors of 17 countries from the hemisphere, representatives of international organizations and cooperation such as the IDB, European Union, UNICEF, Plan International and GIZ, as well as other prominent public officials and specialists in the international issue have been invited to participate.

CLARCIEV is the only council that gathers all Civil Registry Directors of the Americas with the purpose of generating a space for dialogue and mutual learning on civil identity, modernization of registry institutions, with the goal of reaching the universal registration in the Americas.
