Sustainable Development Ministers to Discuss in Honduras post-2015 Agenda for the Americas

The Organization of American States (OAS) and the Government of Honduras will hold from October 19 to 20, the III Meeting of Ministers of Sustainable Development of the Hemisphere, which objective will be to outline the post-2015 sustainable development agenda for the Americas.

The meeting will be inaugurated by the President of Honduras, Juan Orlando Hernández; Foreign Minister Arturo Corrales; and OAS Assistant Secretary General Nestor Mendez, on Monday morning.

During the event, the Inter-American Program for Sustainable Development’s strategic framework, the post-2015 development agenda for the Americas, and issues related to climate change, sustainable cities, and sustainable management of ecosystems will be discussed. Prior to the meeting, a Youth Forum was held in the Honduran city of Gracias, Lempira. Also, on Sunday, October 18, a meeting with civil society and other social actors will take place in Tela, during which youth and civil society representatives will discuss sustainable development proposals to be presented at the ministerial meeting.
