Each year in April, the OAS Board of External Auditors publishes a report covering the previous calendar year’s financial results. Reports covering 1996-2016 may be found here.

Justice Ministers of the Americas to Discuss in Colombia Justice Reforms and Legal Cooperation

The ministers of justice, other ministers, and attorneys general of the Hemisphere, convened by the Organization of American States (OAS), will meet in Bogotá from October 15-16, to discuss policy modernization and judicial reforms, as well as methods to improve legal cooperation in criminal matters.
The opening session of the Tenth Meeting of Ministers of Justice or Other Ministers or Attorneys General of the Americas (REMJA X) will take place on Thursday, October 15, at 9:30 a.m. in the Hotel Tequendama Crowne Plaza in the Colombian capital. The Assistant Secretary General of the OAS, Nestor Mendez, and the President of Colombia, Juan Manuel Santos, will participate in the session. The agenda of the meeting will focus on the analysis of justice modernization policy and international legal cooperation in the Americas.
The forum will be an opportunity for senior officials to discuss the strengthening of and access to justice, mutual assistance in criminal matters, extradition and penitentiary and prison policies in the countries of the Hemisphere.
REMJA
The meeting of Ministers of Justice or Other Ministers or Attorneys General of the Americas is a hemispheric political and technical forum under the auspices of the Organization of American States (OAS) that facilitates direct and horizontal cooperation among member states and provides the region’s highest authorities an opportunity to jointly address the issues, challenges and opportunities they face in matters related to justice.
During its previous meetings, REMJA has made progress in the improvement and strengthening of justice in the Americas by promoting, among other issues, the exchange of information and experiences; coordination of public policies; strengthening of national legal frameworks to combat, prevent, investigate and prosecute cybercrime, and cooperation in mutual assistance in criminal and extradition matters.
