THE PRESIDENT OF THE WORLD BANK, ROBERT B. ZOELLICK WILL BE THE MAIN SPEAKER AT A SPECIAL EDITION OF THE LECTURE SERIES OF THE AMERICAS

Robert B. Zoellick, the President of the World Bank will be the main speaker at the Lecture Series of the Americas next Monday, December 8, at 3:00 pm at the Organization of American States (OAS), Headquarters in Washington D.C.

During his presentation: “A Conversation on the Inter-American Agenda”, Mr. Zoellick will explain his views on the opportunities and challenges facing the Americas in the area of human prosperity. This special edition of the Lecture Series will contribute to the discussion that is currently taking place in the hemisphere about human prosperity, energy security and environmental sustainability. These are the main themes of the Fifth Summit of the Americas that will gather Heads of State and Government of the region on April 17-19, 2009 in Trinidad and Tobago.

Robert B. Zoellick was named President of the World Bank on July, 2007. Prior to joining the Bank, Mr. Zoellick served as Vice Chairman, International of the Goldman Sachs Group, and as Deputy Secretary of the U.S. State Department. In 2001, Mr. Zoellick served in the U.S. cabinet as U.S. Trade Representative. He forged an activist approach to free trade at the global, regional, and bilateral levels, promoting open markets and completing economic agreements with countries in Asia, South and Central America. One of his most remarkable achievements was the role he played in the launch of the Doha Development Agenda in the World Trade Organization (WTO), working with Ministers from nearly 150 economies.
