PANEL TO LOOK AT HOW TRADE AFFECTS
SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IN HEMISPHERE

On Tuesday, May 24, a panel of experts will be discussing the findings of Organization of American States (OAS) environmental assessments conducted in Central American and Mercosur countries. Tuesday’s event will examine cases studies on Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay, Costa Rica and Guatemala.

This series of studies is intended to help identify potential environmental effects of trade agreements being proposed in the Americas. In conducting the studies, the OAS’ Office for Sustainable Development and Environment has worked in conjunction with government officials and expert groups in the member countries.

Scott Vaughan, Director of the OAS Office for Sustainable Development and Environment, will open the meeting along with Robin Rosenberg, an expert from the University of Miami.
