OAS Co-Organizes Forum on Political Reforms in Bogotá

The Organization of American States (OAS) will co-organize a forum entitled “Balance of Powers, Electoral Reform and Peace,” on March 24 and 25 in the Teatro Bellas Artes in Bogotá, Colombia.

The event is organized by the OAS Secretariat for Political Affairs, together with the National Civil Registry of Colombia and Sergio Arboleda University, and aims to promote discussion and the exchange of experiences of political reforms within the Colombian and international context.

During the meeting, decision makers, international experts, and academics will debate the different areas of political reform such as: the electoral system, accountability mechanisms and transparency, and the role of parliament, among others. In addition, a panel will analyze international experiences of political reforms, discussing cases from Latin America and the rest of the world.

The event will feature the participation of international academics, representatives of electoral organizations, leaders of political parties in Colombia, Presidents of the Chamber of Representatives and the Senate of Colombia, Magistrates from Section 5 of the Council of State of Colombia, as well as from the National Electoral Council and electoral organization officials.
