OAS to Debate “Gender, Peace and Security in the Americas”

The Organization of American States (OAS) –through the Inter-American Commission of Women (CIM)- the Principality of Liechtenstein (in its capacity of Permanent Observer) and the Geneva Centre for the Democratic Control of Armed Forces (DCAF) will organize on Thursday, March 17th at 9:00 EDT (13:00 GMT) a Round Table on the construction of a gender, peace and security agenda in the Americas.

The meeting will be opened by the Assistant Secretary General, Néstor Mendez, and will be held at OAS headquarters in Washington DC. The main speaker will be the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Education and Culture of the Principality of Liechtenstein, Aurelia Frick, who will open a debate designed to identify starting points on specific policies and programs for the construction and consolidation of an agenda on the issue in the Americas, joining an initiative led by the DCAF and UN Women.
