OAS Secretary General to Travel to China

The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), Luis Almagro, will make an official visit to China from Sunday until Wednesday, during which he will meet with Foreign Minister Wang Yi and other government authorities.

Secretary General Almagro, who is traveling together with the Assistant Secretary General, Nestor Mendez, will be received by the Foreign Minister on Wednesday, March 2, at the headquarters of the Chinese Foreign Ministry in Beijing. Almagro will arrive in the city on Sunday, February 28, and on Monday will hold a working meeting with the Deputy Foreign Minister, Wang Chao, followed by a welcome lunch at the Foreign Ministry. Later he will be with State Counselor Yang Jiechi.

On Tuesday, the Secretary General of the OAS will be received by authorities at the Ministry of Commerce in the morning, and later will deliver a keynote presentation at the Latin America Institute of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (ILAS CASS). In the afternoon, he will visit the Embassy of Uruguay in Beijing, and later will travel to an elementary school that is a sister school to two Uruguayan schools.
