New Ambassador of Panama Presents Credentials

The new Permanent Representative of Panama to the Organization of American States (OAS), Salvador Sánchez González, today presented his credentials to the Secretary General of the Organization, Luis Almagro.

In the ceremony that took place at the Organization's headquarters in Washington, DC, Ambassador Sánchez González said the defense of democracy and the promotion of sustainable development will be two central points of his work agenda. "Our commitment is to take the region responsibly towards the thresholds of democratic development and material development that our peoples demand," he said.

For his part, Secretary General Almagro highlighted that the curriculum of Ambassador Sánchez González shows that he shares the values of the Organization. "Ambassador, you have a distinguished intellectual background in matters of democracy and human rights. I am sure that you will strengthen our Organization as a representative of Panama," he said.

Ambassador Sánchez González has been Deputy Minister and Executive Secretary of Legal Affairs of the Ministry of the Presidency of Panama.
