OAS Secretary General Meets with US Assistant Secretary of State for Western Hemisphere Affairs

The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, today met with the United States US Assistant Secretary of State for Western Hemisphere Affairs, Roberta Jacobson, at the forty-second regular session of the OAS General Assembly, which opens today in Cochabamba, Bolivia, and will last until June 5.

Their discussions covered current developments in the Hemisphere and the agenda of the General Assembly session, the theme of which is "Food Security with Sovereignty in the Americas."

Also at the meeting were the Chief of Staff of the Secretary General, Ambassador Hugo de Zela; the Permanent Representative of the United States to the OAS, Ambassador Carmen Lomellin; and the Alternate Representative of the United States to the OAS, William McGlynn.
