OAS Secretary General Meets with Spain’s Candidate to Direct IRENA

The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, met today in his office in Washington, DC with Pedro L. Marin, former Secretary of Energy for the Spanish Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade. The two discussed the current situation regarding energy matters.

Mr. Marín is the official candidate nominated by the Spanish Government for the position of Director General of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), who will be elected during the First Assembly of the organization, to take place on April 3rd and 4th in Abu Dhabi. The Spanish official presented to the highest ranking representative of the OAS the main guidelines of his program and expressed his desire, if elected, to establish a strong cooperation between IRENA and the OAS.
