The United States Government today formalized a contribution of $ 736,000 to the Organization of American States (OAS) Cybercrime Program, which is carried out in accordance with the mandates of the Meeting of Ministers of Justice of the Americas (REMJA).

The program trains judges, investigators and prosecutors on investigative and prosecutorial techniques, the admissibility of electronic and digital evidence, legislative drafting, as well as the importance of legal cooperation

OAS Secretary General Luis Almagro said the contribution represents "an endorsement of the invaluable work that the OAS has done on this important issue and will ensure that this training program continues to be successful."

The Interim Representative of the United States to the OAS, Kevin Sullivan, emphasized "the commendable progress that the OAS has achieved in combating cybercrime and transnational crime in the Western Hemisphere" and emphasized the importance of the issues of security and safety for his country.
