Secretary General Almagro Inaugurates Cuban Art Exhibition at Art Museum of the OAS

The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), Luis Almagro, participated today in the opening of "(Art) xiomas - CUBAAHORA: The Next Generation"; an exhibition organized by the Art Museum of the Americas of the OAS in conjuction with the Embassy of Spain in Washington and cultural centers of Spain in Havana and Miami.

Secretary General Almagro said "(Art) xiomas reflects the work of Cuban artists but also reflects the visual arts in Cuba are not removed from the internationalization of the arts."

For his part, the Permanent Observer of Spain to the OAS, Jorge Hevia highlighted the quality of the exposition and its artists and thanked Secretary Almagro for having "understood the importance of the Museum of the Americas and the Columbus Library as two essential cultural tools to promote the founding values of the Organization."

The exhibition, which was curated by Cuban art historian Gabriela Garcia Azcuy, has artworks by 15 artists graduated from the University of the Arts of Cuba (ISA).
