The new Permanent Representative of El Salvador to the Organization of American States (OAS), Carlos Alberto Calles Castillo, today presented his credentials to the Secretary General of the OAS, Luis Almagro.

The Salvadoran diplomat called the diversity of the countries of the region a stimulus for development. In this regard he called on his fellow representatives to "come together and develop ourselves based on the different positions and opinions" of the people of the Hemisphere, because "the day that all are all the same we will have disappeared."

Secretary General Almagro welcomed Ambassador Calles Castillo to "the House of the Americas," and highlighted that he has spent “many years fighting for the freedom of his country," and also expressed his admiration for El Salvador, "a country that has made special efforts in building human rights and building an increasingly stronger democracy."
