The Bahamas to Host Ministerial Meeting on Education of the OAS in 2017

The Organization of American States (OAS) and The Bahamas today signed the agreement by which the country committed itself to host the next meeting of Ministers of Education of the Americas, on February 9 and 10, 2017.

After signing the document, the Secretary General of the OAS, Luis Almagro, highlighted that “education is key to social mobility, inclusion and a more cohesive society.” For his part the Minister of Education of The Bahamas, Jerome Fitzgerald, emphasized that for his country “education and human development remain the most important ingredients for sustainable progressive economic and social development.”

The signing ceremony took place at OAS headquarters in Washington DC.
