The Electoral Observation Mission of the Organization of American States (OAS/EOM) in Suriname, led by Irene Klinger, is observing today the General Elections in all 10 districts of the country.

The 24-member team is visiting polling centers throughout the day and will do so until the closing of polling stations at 7 pm. In particular, they are observing the voting first hand and gathering impressions about the progress of election day and talking to poll workers, oversight entities, party delegates, police officers, and voters. They will also be present at the counting and tabulation of the results and the issuance of the statement of polls tonight.
