The Organization of American States (OAS) and the University of Manchester today signed a Memorandum of Understanding officially launching a second scholarship offering for citizens of the Americas. The agreement includes two full scholarships for PhD studies to be offered each year over the next three years, valued at over US$850,000.
The University of Manchester has the largest student community in the United Kingdom and offers over 400 degree programs. The institution counts 25 Nobel laureates--in Chemistry, Economic Sciences, Physics, Physiology and Medicine--among its past and present students and staff, and currently includes three Nobel laureates among its faculty, more than any other British university.
The OAS - University of Manchester scholarships begin in Fall of 2015 and will be offered through the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences, and its nine schools in STEM fields (science, technology, engineering, and math) which are a priority for OAS member states and are also a main focus of the University of Manchester. The agreement was signed by the OAS Executive Secretary for Integral Development, Sherry Tross, and by Professor Colin Bailey, Deputy President and Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the University of Manchester.
The deadline to receive applications is June 15, 2015. For further information on current and future OAS Scholarship opportunities visit www.oas.org/en/scholarships.
