OAS Secretary General Received the Counselor of Jamaica in the IDB

The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, today received Richard Bernal, Counselor to the Executive Director for the Caribbean of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), at the headquarters of the institution in Washington, DC.

During the meeting, Ambassador Bernal, who represents Jamaica at the IDB, delivered his new book, “Dragon in the Caribbean” to the Secretary General, which is focused on the relationship between China and the Caribbean. The book, subtitled “China´s Global Re-Dimensioning: Challenges and Opportunities for the Caribbean,” was the focus of the conversation between the two, who also discussed the economic relations of the Caribbean with Asia, and the need for greater integration between the English-speaking Caribbean and Latin America.

Also present at the meeting was the Interim Director of the Department of International Affairs of the OAS, Jane Thery.
