The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, today received in his office in Washington, DC the television host Mario Kreutzberger, President of the International Telethons Organization (ORITEL), to discuss the upcoming launch of a campaign to promote the social integration of people with disabilities.

The Chilean television personality, internationally known as Don Francisco, presented to Secretary General Insulza parts of the media campaign that Oritel, made of telethon organizers from twelve OAS member states, will carry out with the support of the hemispheric institution. The purpose of the campaign is to create social awareness and sensitize governments to encourage them to adopt measures to promote inclusion, in an effort to make visible the limitations that society imposes on people with disabilities.

During the meeting, which was also attended by the Director of the Department of Social Inclusion of the OAS, Betilde Muñoz-Pogossian, and the Executive Secretary of Oritel, Veronica Rattin, Secretary General Insulza pledged his support and that of the OAS to the success of the campaign to promote the inclusion of people with disabilities in all areas of human development such as education, work and recreation.
