OAS Secretary General Met with the Permanent Observer of Angola

The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, met today with the Permanent Observer of Angola to the Organization, Agostinho Tavares, at the headquarters of the hemispheric institution in Washington, DC.

Secretary General Insulza and Ambassador Tavares talked about the details of the upcoming Summit of the Americas, to be held in April in Panama; the political and economic situation in the region; the Inter-American System; and the relations between the OAS and the African Union.

Ambassador Tavares is also the representative of his country to the Government of the United States. Angola has been a Permanent Observer to the OAS since 1991.
