OAS Secretary General Discussed with PAHO Director Preparedness of the Region for the Ebola Virus

The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, today received at the hemispheric institution in Washington, DC, the Director of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), Carissa Etienne, to discuss how the region is preparing to prevent the possibility of the spread of the Ebola virus.

Secretary General Insulza and Director Etienne discussed the situation of the disease in West Africa and the preparations the countries of the Inter-American System are adopting.

The Chief of Staff of the OAS Secretary General, Hugo de Zela, and the Director of the Department of Communicable Diseases and Health Analysis of PAHO, Marcos Espinal, took part in the meeting.
