The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, met today with Nayib Bukele, mayor of Nuevo Cuscatlan, El Salvador, with whom he discussed the economic, social and political issues of current relevance in the Hemisphere.

During the meeting, held at OAS headquarters in Washington, DC, Secretary General Insulza and the municipal authority analyzed the different electoral processes that have taken place in the region in recent months, the political dynamics and social and economic issues that affect sustainable development and quality of life of the inhabitants of the region.

In the framework of the meeting the authorities spoke about the event on the World Cities Day, organized by the United Nations in New York on Friday, October 31, in which the Mayor and current candidate for mayor of San Salvador will participate with a presentation on sustainable and humane cities. In this regard, Secretary General Insulza highlighted the relevance of the content of the meeting and the opportunity it presents for the exchange of experiences and best practices at the municipal level.
