OAS Secretary General Met with the President of the Congress of Peru

The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, today visited the President of the National Congress of Peru, Fredy Otárola, in the framework of his official trip to the South American country.

During the meeting, Secretary General Insulza and President Otárola discussed the First Inter-American Meeting of Presidents of Legislative Powers, a space for inter-parliamentary dialogue and interchange aimed at cooperation and institutional strengthening to boost the ties between the congresses of the region.

Moreover, the two talked about the current global political context and that of the Hemisphere in particular.

The event, which brings together the highest authorities of the legislative bodies of the OAS member countries, will be held tomorrow at the headquarters of the Congress of Peru in Lima.
