The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, today received the President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Peter Maurer, with whom he discussed the possibilities of cooperation and exchange of experiences between the two organizations.

The meeting, held at OAS headquarters in Washington DC, focused on the analysis of key issues of the Inter-American agenda relating to the peace process in Colombia, efforts to promote peace and reconciliation in various countries of the region, the vulnerability of migrants and the promotion of public security.

At the meeting, Secretary General Insulza presented to the ICRC President a summary of activities of the Mission to Support the Peace Process in Colombia (MAPP) which has been operating since 2004. Additionally, both authorities expressed their willingness to continue working together to more effectively support countries in the region by sharing experiences and best practices.
