OAS Secretary General Participates in Debates of the World Economic Forum on Latin America

The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, today participated as a speaker in the debates held at the World Economic Forum on Latin America held in Panama on April 1 – 3.

During the event, organized this year under the theme "Opening Pathways for Shared Progress," the head of the hemispheric Organization shared his views with other senior officials, experts and analysts in the region, who discussed issues related to boosting institutional reform, promoting transparency, the rule of law, the diversification of the regional economy, increased productivity and innovation, human capital investment, modernization of infrastructure, regional integration, promotion of employment, quality of education in the region and climate change.

In his presentations, Secretary General Insulza participated in discussions with, among others, the President of Honduras, Juan Orlando Hernandez; the former President of the Dominican Republic Leonel Fernandez; the Minister of National Defense of Colombia, Juan Carlos Pinzón Bueno; the Senior Associate at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, Moisés Naim; and Georgetown University Professor Arturo Valenzuela, among others.

The OAS Secretary General has been invited to speak at the nine editions of the World Economic Forum on Latin America and has participated for nineteen years in the global version of the same forum.
