OAS Secretary General Met with the President of the Supreme Electoral Tribunal of Bolivia

The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, met today with the President of the Supreme Electoral Tribunal of Bolivia, Wilma Velasco, during his visit to the South American country.

During the meeting, the President praised the consistent willingness of the OAS and its Secretary General to deploy electoral observation missions and to support Bolivia on technical electoral issues. Moreover, she expressed her wish that the OAS send a mission to the presidential elections to be held in 2014, and expressed interest in continuing to receive technical cooperation for the strengthening of electoral processes.

Secretary General Insulza, for his part, reiterated the willingness of the OAS to accompany the Bolivian authorities and people in the strengthening of their electoral processes and thanked the President of the Tribunal for the invitation to observe the election of 2014 in all of its stages.
