OAS Secretary General Meets with Prime Minister of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines

The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, today met with the Prime Minister of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Ralph Gonsalves, in Washington, DC.

Secretary General Insulza and Prime Minister Gonsalves talked about the political situation in the Caribbean and Latin America, as well as OAS programs in the Caribbean country.

They also discussed the debate that is beginning in the OAS Permanent Council regarding the strategic vision of the hemispheric institution, a discussion that Secretary General Insulza started with his presentations in February 2012 and April 2013. In particular, the OAS leader and the Prime Minister of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines exchanged views on the mandates of the Organization and the adaptation of its budget to its main tasks.
