Secretary General Participates in Meeting on Haiti

The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, today took part in a meeting of the “Friends of Haiti” group of countries and international organizations, which was presided over by the Prime Minister of the Caribbean country, Laurent Lamothe.

In his words during the event, the Secretary General highlighted the support of the hemispheric Organization for the development and reconstruction of Haiti, in particular working with the National Registry Office (ONI), as well as its support for the electoral processes and health initiatives in the country.

The Assistant Secretary General of the OAS, Albert Ramdin, also participated in the meeting, which took place within the context of the United Nations General Assembly.
