The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, today received the President of Peru, Ollanta Humala, at the institution’s headquarters in Washington, DC.

During the meeting, the two talked about the important role of Peru within the OAS, the current political affairs in the region and the projects being carried by the OAS. The conversation also focused in particular on the debate that has emerged from the recent presentation of the Report on the Drug Problem in the Americas, produced by the regional organization under the leadership of its head representative.

Following the meeting between President Humala and Secretary General Insulza, the Peruvian leader met with the Permanent Representatives of the OAS Member States. The President of Peru will later address a Protocolary Session of the Permanent Council hosted in his honor.
