"Like all the Electoral Observation Missions deployed by the OAS, this one is seeks the continuous improvement of electoral processes in the hemisphere, to support democratic regimes in the region," he added.
For his part, Foreign Minister Búcaro highlighted his government's commitment that "the future of Guatemalans be defined by Guatemalans." "We want the OAS to witness a lively electoral process, a democratic party like the one we are going to experience and that they see that our democracy after 37 years will prevail and that we can build a better future for our children and grandchildren," added the Guatemalan Foreign Minister.
The Mission will be headed by Ambassador Eladio Loizaga Lezcano, former foreign minister of Paraguay, and will be composed of about 90 people. It is the twentieth Mission that the OAS has deployed in Guatemala.
