OAS Secretary General Participates in Opening of the Sixth Americas Competitiveness Forum

The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, today participated in Cali, Colombia, with the President of the host country, Juan Manuel Santos, at the opening of the Sixth Americas Competitiveness Forum. The mayor of the host city, Rodrigo Guerrero, also took part in the opening ceremony.

The Secretary General called on Member States to "continue to work together to leverage our complementarities, build greater synergies and to ensure that the current favorable conditions in the region become a platform to not only sustained growth, but sustainable the long run and a better quality of life for all the people. "

"The programs to promote innovation that have been successfully implemented in the countries of the Americas and that were presented in the report "Signs of Competitiveness," published today, will be valuable tools for strengthening our capacity for innovation at the regional level," added the leader of the OAS.
