esMassive open online courses (MOOCs) make knowledge accessible to students from all over the world. The development of MOOCs is rooted in the idea of openness in education, free sharing of knowledge, and in the belief that the desire to learn should be satisfied without demographic, economic, and geographical constraints. ITEN MOOCs aim to strengthen teachers' skills, offering practical tools such as: class plan formats and methodological approaches to develop critical skills in the students.

The Campus ITEN is a platform specially designed to offer open, massive online courses. It can accommodate more than 25,000 participants who can interact simultaneously with their teaching colleagues and with different types of content hosted there. The participation and contributions of quality teachers within the community are rewarded. Therefore, there are a number of social -oriented medals recognizing the work of the faculty members. The interest and actions of each student, are manifested by the acquisition of social medals that identifies them as active and committed members.

ITEN is searching for Ministries of Education to implement the ITEN MOOC. This course is free and offers teachers methodologies and tools that promote critical thinking in students between the ages of 12 and 18 years old.

The content of this course was developed within the framework of the Energy and Climate Partnership of the Americas (ECPA) of the Department of Sustainable Development of the OAS. ECPA supports initiatives that tackle the challenges of energy security and climate change in the region and thus, sustainable energy is a cross-cutting theme in the topics covered in this MOOC.

Meet the ITEN Campus here.

The Program is carried out with the financial support of the U.S. Permanent Mission to the OAS
