Our New Community

We invite you to visit our virtual community, better known as ITEN, a space to remain in contact with teachers and education leaders from the Americas.

To access the online community, just go to www.itenamericas.net, and follow the steps; the ITEN team will welcome you on this page and show you where you need to go to explore the various opportunities that are available to you. The community is made up of all those who have an interest in issues of teacher education at all levels: policy makers, teachers training institutes, training teachers, active teachers, and special interest groups within each group.

This virtual community model was launched in August 2012. The ITEN platform has been growing gradually and has become even more user-friendly; you will notice how you can easily navigate and interact through this site. The community has the objective of promoting dialogue and good practice exchanges between all educational leaders of the Americas to share resources, initiate conversations and share hemispheric publications relevant to the teaching practice, among other things. (The imagination is the limit;) ...

How is an online community different from a real one?

There is not much difference in terms of social dynamics. Both are about developing relationships and connections among people who share common interests.

In our case the community is made of all those who have an interest in teacher education issues at all levels: policymakers, faculty, teachers in training, in-service teachers and special interest groups within each respective category.

Online communities offer one special opportunity: boundaries are erased and people from different countries and cultures can network and learn from each other.

“Nobody knows so little not to have something to teach.
Nobody knows so much not to have something to learn”
(Quote from Teacher Daniel Reyes, Founder of Fundación Evolución and TELAR Network Argentina)

Let’s take this opportunity to add up creative and innovative ideas and to weave a network of teachers for an education of excellence.
