Changes in the Schedule of Hearings
The Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) announces that, due to the weather forecast and the impact that Hurricane Sandy could have in Washington, DC, it has decided some changes on the schedule of hearings of the 146th Period of Sessions. Review here the schedule with all changes and cancellations. (Updated November 2nd, 2012)
The hearings on Strengthening of the Inter-American System of Human Rights that were scheduled for this Tuesday, October 30, 2012, were postponed for the following day, Wednesday, October 31st.
The hearings scheduled for Wednesday, October 31st., were postponed for Sunday, November 4th.
In case that the petitioners or the representatives of the States that had planned to participate in hearings programmed for this period of sessions find they cannot attend the hearing as a consequence of the weather situation in Washington, the hearing will be re-scheduled so that it takes place during the 147 Period of Sessions, in March 2013. The IACHR requests all persons in this situation to inform the Commission as soon as possible. This applies to all hearings that were originally scheduled to take place from Wednesday to Friday, and that are now scheduled for Thursday to Sunday.
The IACHR apologizes for any inconvenience that these changes may cause. These decisions were adopted seeking to reduce to a minimum any impact to all persons involved.
In case that the weather forecast changes, the Commission could find itself in the need to announce new changes. We ask every person interested in the hearings and the sessions to keep checking the IACHR Website, the page of the Commission on Facebook (www.facebook.com/CIDH.OEA) and the IACHR accounts on Twitter (www.twitter.com/CIDHPrensa y www.twitter.com/IACHRPRess).
Thank you for your understanding.
