Freedom of Expression

Kati Daffan

"I could not have asked for a more enriching experience than my internship at the Office of the Special Rapporteur for Freedom of Expression of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (Relatoría). I felt proud to be involved in each of the projects that they allowed me to pursue, and was amazed at the extent to which the team actively tailored the internship to suit my own interests and goals. The fact that the Relatoría’s team is so flexible, open and collaborative allowed me to feel autonomous and challenged while still having the luxury of close cooperation whenever I so desired. To have a small, close-knit group of phenomenal supervisors but also feel integrated among all of the lawyers of the Inter-American Commission of Human Rights is a truly unique experience. The quantity and quality of work that gets accomplished in that office is inspiring, as is the array of resources available to any curious mind. Anyone would feel proud to be a part of that team and inspired to continue in the struggle for human dignity long after the sad day when your internship has ended."
