CITEL at the World Telecommunications Standardization Assembly of the International Telecommunication Union

The World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly is the regular four yearly event that will review working methods including approval process, the work programme and the structure of Study Groups for ITU-T. The WTSA-08 will take place in Johannesburg, South Africa, 21 to 30 October 2008. This will be the first WTSA preceded by a Global Standards Symposium on October 20, 2008. It will be a high level event bringing together all major ICT standards makers to discuss bridging the standardization gap and improving collaboration to achieve this objective.

During the WTSA-08) three side events will be held from 22 to 24 October 2008, 18:00 to 19:00.The events will focus on Cybersecurity, ICT Accessibility and ICT and Climate Change. CITEL has presented inter-american proposals in the three subjects.

The first meeting of the CITEL Rapporteur Group will be held on October 20 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Assembly I+II meeting room, located on the first floor of the Convention Center in Johannesburg, South Africa, the venue for WTSA-08. 

We would also remind you that the 40 common proposals representing the interests of our region have been submitted to the ITU. Please find attached the updated version regarding the table of supports.
